I picked up a EliteBook 8440P (Core i5, 4gb ram) came with win7 pro (64bit). I removed the HD, and did a fresh load of Win10 Pro 64bit on a brand new SSD. It's running great - but with 2 issues:
-The fan doesn't run when the laptop is on battery power. I tried the latest version of SpeedFan, but it doesn't find the fan. If I run this way for a few hours the laptop just overheats and shuts off abruptly - NOT GOOD! But the fan runs fine when the laptop is on AC power or in the dock on AC power.
-The screen brightness controls (fn-f9, fn-f10, fn-f11) do nothing. I must be missing a driver for this, right?
Am I expecting too much for a laptop designed to run on Win7?
