Elitebook 8560w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I have a question about my HP Elitebook 8560w with AMD Firepro M5950.

Untill a few months ago the computer was working fine, but it started crashing to black/white stripe screen when the GPU really had to work hard and notebook was warm.

I took the notebook to a service center and they said that the GPU chip was overheating internally and this was a known fault of the chip. So, nothing they could do exept replacing, but (new) spare parts are scarce and expensive.

My question is: is it possible to simply replace the AMD Firepro M5950 with an Nvidia GPU (Quadro 2000M / 1000M) without any other alterations i have to do too the notebooks hardware like the cooling system? In other words; does it fit?

If this is possible, i have found some 2nd hand 8560w Quadro's on Ebay. I know that this probably is a risk not knowing the history and functionality of the specific cards, but does anyone have bad experiences with Quadro's or 2nd hand cards?
