Elitebook 840 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My week old Elitebook 840 G8 has been making modem sounds at random times. They come from the right speaker and the volume is controllable with the volume control keys and gestures. It sounds just like the handshaking noises that used to come out of the old phone line modems from the 1980's and 1990's before getting cable modems.

Sometimes it only lasts a few seconds but a few times it went on for longer - like 45 seconds or a minute. Then, with no action taken, the sounds will stop for a while only to re-occur a few minutes or hours later with no action on my part.

I didn't even think laptops came with old school modems in them anymore!
