When running my Windows backup to backup to a Seagate FA GoFlex USB drive I receive the following error and the backup does not complete.

Error:(The semaphore timeout period has expired. (0x80070079))

Up until about 3 weeks ago my backup was running fine.  No updates were installed either from Microsoft or HP it just stopped working.  Since then I have tried switching the drive from Seagate to another USB drive which is Western Digital.  Still same error so I know it is not the drive.  I have also tried installing some Microsoft updates and still no success.  According to Microsoft is says there is an issue with the Microsoft USB driver and large files being written to USB drive.  But when I try to update the drive I get nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
