HP ProBook 640 G8 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was using an external monitor connected to my HP Probook 640 G8 through USB C to  HDMI adapter.

The setup is:

  • USB C connects from the laptop to the adapter and the HDMI cable connects the monitor to the adapter.
  • The adapter also has a USB c charger connected.
  • USB Details: USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port (Power delivery, DisplayPort 1.4)

The setup was working fine till today morning (with both charging and display to external monitor working fine), when an Windows update got applied. Post that the monitor isn't detected through USB C. As of now, directly connecting the HDMI cable to the laptop works and charging of the laptop through the USB C port connected to the adapter  is working.

I have tried to do a system restore but even that is not working. Not sure what to do.

Please help as I am using the adapter as a semi dock with HDMI, Power cables connected to connect only a single cable to the laptop.
