HP Recommended
Product: HP ENVY Laptop 17-ae1xx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been using this setup for a few years now with no issues, but over the past few days the external monitor will to black (and the sound stops) then come back on again after a few seconds.  I have all the latest windows patches and drivers installed. I have also switched BOTH monitors and HDMI cables and the problem persists.  I suspect that my notebook is problem but want to be sure
