I have two external monitors, 1080p and 1440p. Unfortunately this seems have a known issue where the combined display output plus network and USB ports at 3.0 seem to overload the bandwidth of the thunderbolt port (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06575423). The fix for this is to enter the BIOS and check "Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP a lot mode dock. ", this limits the USB ports to 2.0 speeds which would be fine for me.

Unfortunately my company has locked the BIOS and won't provide our local IT team with the BIOS password. This leaves me working with my 1440p screen running at 1080p which is blurry and unpleasant to use. I have tried using the HDMI port on the laptop in conjunction with the DisplayPort connector on the dock, but my laptop seems to lock out the HDMI port when the dock is in use and will only detect monitors attached to the dock. I have also tried limiting the refresh rates of the monitors, but that still does not seem to allow higher resolutions to be set. Does anyone know of any methods for resolving this issue without accessing the BIOS?
