Facebook hacking issue and questions

I am not tech savvy but know how to take care of some things with my HP laptop. Basically a navigator as I don't do gaming at all. downloading much at all so pretty much it is sites for me...ebay, yahoo, wikipedia, HP, Microsoft,etc.  About a month ago, my original Facebook account since 2007-08 was hacked and probably hesitated a tad too long. I've been hit before by things like ransomware and never give out sensitive info and am always cautious on what I click on anything. I am not 100% sure but it seemed to begin when a true FB friend posted on her wall which showed on mine about a warning not to friend some Jayden Cross or Jayden Smith, whatever. I NEVER accept friends unless I know them or do research on the person. You can pretty much easily spot the bogus profiles. All I did was post a reply on her post saying the above warning not to accept unknowns, etc. Then shortly after, all hell broke loose. I was never able to logo back into my account or recover. Let me say that FACEBOOK, the entity and the gloryhole and his minions  that run it were of no help at all. It was all formatted cirlcular b.s. that takes you around in a circle and get you nowhere. I looked online and did everything I could understand to remedy and ended up Hacker 1, me 0. I am stubborn and a vengeful person with Scorpio background and despise being a victim. I ended up doing up another FB profile but I don't like it and everyday I want to scrub it because it is NOT mine. I want my original back and wish I knew how to find out if it was a hacker for sure or FB that did it. I've heard they have automated things like ebay that look for certain phrases and such. Politically, I am a Democrat and I've had my share of Anti Dump posts and replies on FB, so for all I know Dump's League of Unintelligent Hateful Men could have thrown a wrench in my works. Anyways, sorry for the lengthy post but I am old fashined and believe in they dying art of conversation and NOT soundbytes and texts. If I had a Tine Machine and couldn't go back to childhood or 1980's, I would push the buzzer at 2007 when I cought my Acer Aspire with Windows Vista and I enjoyed life, liberty and the online experience. In closing, any thoughts, suggestions, ideas or anything positive at all would be greatly appreciated. I had a HORRIBLE 2016 and this year NOTHING has gone right so far. So, is this HP I have kaput and do I start looking at another laptop? If so, what is the best security to utilize as this travesty of justice happened when I had 10 with Edge and the "almighty" Windows Defender.
