This drives me crazy. Almost every time after my laptop resumes from sleep the fan goes full speed and won't stop. Even after a reboot it stays on full speed. The only thing that will "reset" it is to shut it down, wait 10 seconds or and turn it back on. Then the fan goes back to normal operation. I may try partitioning my SSD and putting Ubuntu on it to see if I can get it to behave the same way just to rule out if the OS has anything to do with it. It's really annoying when I go to a meeting and wake up my laptop and everything complains about the high pitch whining of my laptop fan and the only thing I can do is save all my work and shutdown, delaying the meeting when I have to present something.
