Not more than 4 months i had it services with new thermal paste on both GPU and CPU heatsinks.

Im using under a ceiling fan, using on a table, and under the laptop, i have risen from the back using a pencil sharper on each side (total 2), to keep the air vents open.

My Hp 8760w EliteBook, without doing anything its temp for GPU and CPU is around 50-60 degrees. and the laptop is normally warm hot near the battery, power supply, and air vents.

When in use (web, youtube, work) temp rises up to 55-65 degrees and even 70 degrees sometimes. and it gets hot or warm hot. as i can feel the hot air coming out of the vents.

but while playing games it is around 70-80 degrees. and the laptop is hot near the battery, air vent,s and from the front side near the mouse pad.

and it even gives statics with and without power supply plug in. from the front edges only.
