Spectre x360 15-ch0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP Spectre x360 15-ch0xx about 3 years ago.  I bought this computer specifically so I could write on the screen.  I use the computer in tablet mode for teaching my classes.  After about 1 1/2 years, the HP 905512-002 pen that came with the computer stopped writing reliably on the screen.  As I wrote, text would intermittently not appear on the screen.  The pen eventually stopped working.  A passive stylus worked fine, so I knew the problem was the pen.  I replaced the batteries and tried everything I've seen suggested on the HP forum to fix the problem.  It didn't work.  I bought another pen, and it worked fine for a while.  Now it is showing the same symptoms.  I have replaced the batteries in the pen.  It did not fix the problem.  Again, a passive stylus writes with no problem.  The width of a passive stylus makes it hard to precisely place text on the screen, essential for mathematics.  I need to use the pen, but it has to work.

This is not a driver problem.  This is a problem with the pen.  Do not tell me to reinstall drivers, update the BIOS, or any other such nonsense.  I've tried all that, and it has not fixed the problem.  I don't know if one or more electrical contacts within the pen are failing, or if the stylus is too worn to make good electrical contact with the screen.  An intermittent problem like this seems to me to indicate a problem with the pen itself, especially with two pens showing the same symptoms.

Is there a pen made by someone else that I can use with my HP Spectre x360 15-ch0xx?  I would appreciate any suggestions from any users who have found pens they can use with this model computer.
