Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys

I'm actually just sharing what I seem to have found and what solved a big issue for me:

HP Audio Control causes issues with Bluetooth profile switching on Windows 10.

Problem that I had: any given Bluetooth headset you connect to a Win10 machine would register once as Headphones and once as Headset. As soon as microphone access is needed, the profile will switch from Headphones to Headset.

On my Elitebook this would work for some time after reboot, but at the latest after a short break, when I came back, I would be able to listen to music, but when making a call (Skype, Teams etc.), I could be heard, but I got no sound.
No switching of output devices helped, my Headset was just mute.

I tried a lot, including updating bluetooth drivers, changing settings, disabling either profile or entire other audio devices.

In the end, the only thing that fixed the problem: uninstalling HP Audio Control.

As soon as that was gone, my Headset started to work as it's supposed to, i.e. I can listen to music in stereo quality, as soon as I get a call, it switches to the headset profile, and back after the call.
I can stay away from the laptop as long as I want, when I put the headset back on, everything still works.

Lessons learned:

1. HP Audio Control probably interferes with the built-in audio management of Windows

2. Uninstalling HP Audio Control solves a really gruesome problem. It's really a PITA, trying to work from home when your headset goes mute randomly.

Hope that helps anyone.
