Elite Display E202
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Display Assistant no longer communicates with my monitor.  I get this message when I start the app

 DCI/CI Communication - HP Display Assistant could not establish communication with your display...

I am using the HDMI cable that came with the display.  I also tried the VGA cable that was supplied, but this did not fix the problem.

I uninstalled the Display Assistant software, restarted, then re-installed it (the version in the title is current).  This did not fix the issue either.  Laptop is a 6 month old HP 15t da100 CTO...

Any suggestions?
Update 5/3/20:

On another HP laptop (also Win 10 Home) the Assistant can see my monitor just fine.  Same HDMI cable...
