EliteBook 8570p
Other

Hi there,

I have an HP EliteBook 8570p laptop I use and try out different operating systems, and due to the current conditions I decided to start fresh and make a clean install of Windows 10. In the process, I decided to change the boot method from UEFI Non-CSM to UEFI with CSM. This shouldn't have been an issue, but after a reboot a message came up that I never read due to force-shutting the computer down, wanting to create a Windows Installation Media on another PC. Coming back to it, though, the computer seemed to turn on but never boot up. This was expected, as there was no operating system that was UEFI-compatible installed on the HDD. But what was strange was that I was unable to bring up the boot options and I was unable to enter the BIOS settings, either. I also noted that the Caps Lock key stayed on, which to my knowledge shouldn't happen.

I've tried some troubleshooting, as listed below -

 - Connect an external monitor through DisplayPort and try changing the output using the Fn Keys

 - Leave the computer charging for at least five hours

 - Held Win+V during boot-up. This did cause the fans to start ramping and the keyboard lights to start flashing, but I did not try overwriting the BIOS since I was unsuccessful in flashing it to a USB drive

 - Remove the external battery and disconnect the CMOS battery, held the power button for 30 seconds, and left it as-is overnight

    - Tried this, and after connected a portable Windows installation (not installer) on a USB drive and with the HDD removed

    - Tried this while connected to a VGA monitor through the dock (without any form of media connected)

 - Try out each RAM stick individually, but no fresh ones as I don't have any spare. After this I did notice that the Caps Lock light was off after the first seconds of boot-up

I've tried and done all of these, but with no success. All I'm focusing on at the moment is entering the BIOS and decide what to do from there.

If anyone is able to lend a hand in this, it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!
