One of our two Elitebook 12.1" 2560P laptops developed a loose hinge. The part that is attached to the base is tight. The problem is in whatever runs through where the display case and the bottom case attach to each other.

I don't know what's in there, but I tried to tighten it from the RH slot and it got even looser.

I thought there woudl be some long pin or rod going through the entire overlapped section, but now I,m not sure what's inside it.

I also checked the base where the hinge assembly attaches to the bottom part of the case, and there is no wobble at all--it's firmly attached by the Torx screws on both sides.

The problem is worst on the RH side but I would like to know if there's a way to tighten this so that it isn't loose and wobbly.

I have the service manual downloaded but didn't see a section on the hinge assembly. (I could have missed it.  This is the manual I downloaded:

I looked for Youtube videos on this and didn't find anything specific to this laptop, but there might be one that covers a similar hinge assembly on a different laptop.

So, can anyone help me or direct me to information where I can help myself with this?

Thanks!!!

Donald
