Elitebook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My Elitebook 840 G3 isn't booting up and it shows a blink code with 5 short blink caps lock LED.

When this blink code is shown, the screen remains blank and the fan start spinning at max speed.

Steps I've tried:

  • I've already tried removing both RAM slots (i've got 2x8GB), removed network card and nothing helped.
  • Removing Main and CMOS battery doesn't help either.
  • I've found some troubleshoot with pressing power button for more than 12 secs, and 30 secs but the result is the same.
  • Windows Key + B, doesn't solve either.

I read that this may be motherboard failure, but sometimes it does turns on and works perfectly good. No issues on Windows whatsoever. But when I shut it down the issue starts again.

Here it is, the video showing the issue: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmkhLEnXeSX3mtlJmCUsuVzAeVGcHw?e=2NCvvU

Is there anything else I could try to do?

Best regards.
