HP Elitebook 8570w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear all,

Since today, my Elitebook 8570w has several issues that I haven't yet been able to solve. When I start it up, the LCD remains black, the power button light does not turn on and the keyboard does not work at all (though the touchpad and backlight do work). An external display on VGA works, as well as an external keyboard. Other than that, the notebook behaves like I'm used to.

I have tried to restore Windows to a moment when everything did work, but to no avail. I have tried the trick of removing all USB devices, power plug and battery and pressing the power button, but this has not worked either. I cannot seem to get into the BIOS during startup. I have updated the AMD drivers in an attempt to solve the issue.

I get the feeling that it's hardware related, but I don't want to replace the LCD and find out that that wasn't the issue.

Can you help me in finding the problem?

Best regards,

Jasper

**Update**

I have now been able to get into the UEFI through the Advanced Startup option in Windows 10. However, as the internal keyboard does not work, I haven't been able to access BIOS (it actually took a CMOS reset to get out of UEFI altogether). So, no progress yet..

As per advice from the HP helpdesk, I disconnected and reconnected the keyboard leads, but this hasn't solved the keyboard problem.

**Update #2**

It is most likely a hardware issue: reinstalling Windows has not resolved the issue.
