HP Elitebook 840 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, to follow the discussion closed on this topic (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Elitebook-G6-on-1903-audio-stops-functioning-randomly/t... )

The issue where audio stop working on Elitebook G6 (reported for many models: 630, 840, 650, ...) is a problem that seem to not be solved by HP.

Like GriffinIT tell in the other post, the updated BIOS seem to solve the problem... but not totally. The same problem still there but the random is less than before.

Many users that uses our laptops in our company still have the problem even with latest BIOS and drivers (in date of may 2020).

When people use sound application (most of the time web applications like Microsoft Teams audio call, Zoom Webconference or a simple video playing with Google Chrome from TV channel (YouTube, CBC, FOX, etc.)) the sound could stop during the use without any change... just playing and stop suddenly. The user need to power OFF then power ON to get sound again.

Basically, almost of these users was reverted with another laptop model. Ex. HP ProBook 640 G4 and no more problem. Everything is working fine. We have over 8000 end-users computers in our company and only those using "G6 Series" have this problem.

We have tested on many Window 10 x64 versions (Pro 1803, 1809, 1903 or 1909/Enterprise/Enterprise LTSC) and the problem is always there... If the BIOS update did something to get "better" stability... it's officially something in the hardware concept **bleep**'s wrong. HP tried to fix it... find something, but not 100% fixed !!!

Please, work again on this issue and found a final solution !!
