Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So after fixing the HP charger cable I applied a reverse voltage to the laptop. The laptop still works and when plugging in the charger the orange light at the back lights up and it says plugged in, charging. After a while the charge bar halts though and the battery neither charges nor runs down.

I am sure something to do with the charger circuit got damaged. I am hoping its a fuse and diode. Where can I find the location of the fuse and diode? I have the motherboard in front of me. Or the schematics for the power/charger circuit?

Alternatively where can I buy a replacement motherboard in South Africa?
