I want to purchase a 17.3" HP Laptop to replace an aging Sony Vaio. I want to multiboot into Linux and Windows which I have done previously on many PC's and laptops. My main use cases are software development including virtualisation projects. My budget is between £ 1000 and £ 2000. I am split between an HP Envy (HP ENVY 17-ae101na Laptop) and one of the HP-Omen's.

16 GB RAM, Intel I7 CPU, SSD and HDD is a minimum spec in my opinion. I don't think I can afford a 32 GB RAM machine without seriously compromising some other aspect of the specification.

Any thoughts / comments / experiences?

Cheers, Steve
