hp Pavilion Laptop 15-ck0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an hp Pavilion 15-ck0xx that I'm trying to help a family member with. The computer was bought in 2018, used for a year and a half, and then spent the last 16 months or so between 3 repair shops (lots of trouble at one repair shop trying to get the device back, which was a big part of the delay...). The keyboard works perfectly, aside from the numeric pad, the regular number keys, and various function keys (f3, f4, etc...). Below are all the keys that malfunction, and their output when pressed once is to the right:

Input Key                   Output

1                                   /1

3                                   3 (and also lowers brightness at same time)

4                                   54

5                                   54

6                                   67

7                                   67

8                                   u8

0                                   -0

F9                                  9

F5                                  2 (and turns the keyboard light on/off)

F2                                  3 (and lowers brightness)

Pg up                           no action

Pg down                     no action

Numeric Pad Keys:

1                                 +1

4                                 64

6                                does nothing

7                                57

+                                does nothing

All repair shops advised that it seemed like a driver issue, but they had updated the drivers and tried alternatives, so it must be hardware. After this they all tried to order the part, and could not find any genuine keyboards which meant that they couldn't do the repairs. As far as hp and Microsoft support, well.... I find myself back in a forum again like when I used to own an hp haha

The device was sold as their 2018 "flagship" device, or so I've read. So I tried a few online hp chats and also called hp customer service, and they basically said the computer is too old and hp can't find the keyboard replacement. Further, everyone I spoke to sounded as if they were searching up the manual online while on the phone/chat, and were clearly less knowledgeable than me, which is not good because I am no techie. Definitely did not feel as if I was speaking to anyone who even knew much about computers, and every rep was awkwardly scripted. They also directed me to some diagnostic tools and bloatware which were a joke and gave conflicting results and no course of action. Needless to say, I'm about to snap my crayons over here and can't believe how little hp is willing to help customers.

Long story short, has anyone been able to solve this issue? I feel like it relates to the keyboard being the full/extended keyboard and maybe hp is giving it a driver for a regular sized laptop keyboard without the extra keys. Either way I hope someone can help out. Even some reputable amazon links to replacement pavilion 15 silver backlit full keyboard, or a third party driver to try would be a huge help!
