I work as an engineer in the service center, so there is experience. But for the first time faced such problem on a personal laptop.
I decided to upgrade my HP ProBook 640 G1 and install SSD 2.5" in it, but at the same time to leave the old HDD 500GB, which worked very well, for this bought Caddy 2.5 HDD SATA 9.5 mm. The first SSD drive was Silicon Power V70 240GB (SP240GBSS3V70S25), which I installed instead of the stationary HDD, it turned out to install Windows 7 64-bit, but after the first reboot gives an error that can not find any file (which is not important, because after each reinstall Windows every time different). When I tried to install Windows 10 64-bit, the installation goes up to 100% file copying and freezes. As a result, any Windows, at any option of installation in the laptop, whether it be a place of regular HDD or a place of DVD at me didn't turn out, thus I changed all options and IDE-AHCI, EFI-LEGACY...
Decided that the problem might be the controller for a new SSD and replace it with the 240GB GoodRam IRDM (IR-SSDPR-S25A-240). Install Windows when the SSD in the normal HDD spot does not work, the problem with the formatting of the sections. When you install can not othermaterial system partition and throws an error. If I set GoodRam SSD in the Caddy for the DVD, you can install Windows and the SSD itself works very well. But there is another problem - if I boot Windows with the SSD, then copy any files between SSD and HDD occurs with failures in speed. The rate may then rise, to fall, to cause copy 1 GB of data can be copied in 40 mins But if I boot Windows c HDD, then no problems with work or copying is not! This is when a SSD installed in place of DVD. After updating the BIOS to the latest version (1.43), if I install the SSD in the socket HDD, the laptop generally stops running, the HP logo appears and the CapsLock indicator flashes 5 times, which indicates a problem with the motherboard...
Here's a not standard issue, all individually fully functional under certain combinations of SSD in Сaddy can install Windows and work, but the data exchange between the SSD and HDD with bigger problems. I suspect that the problem is still in the SSD controller, but I want to understand exactly to know what to change. I would be very grateful for all the help!
