Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, we have several HP Probook 430/440 G6 laptops and every single one of them has an issue with the external (3.5mm jack) microphone. The input volume is so so quiet that you have to hold the microphone next to your mouth for the cell recipient to hear your clearly. Now I do work in the IT department so I have exhausted a large list of things I can try and the internal microphone has no problems at all.

1. different headphones

2. older drivers (several different ones)

3. updated drivers from Windows Update

4.  volume/general microphone settings

5. fully factory resetting several laptops (issue still present on a vanilla device)

6. Various settings on microphone volume/boost

7, Removal of all audio software other then Windows built in (including HP Audio Control)

I'm completely as a loss and wasted hours trying to increase the volume of external microphones but to no avail

Just as a final note,  a colleague uses some Samsung headphones in his Probook 430 G5 with no issues, these same headphones have the same low volume input issue on my Probook 440 G6. The issue seems to be the laptops not the headphones but I do not know what else to try.
