Hello all,
I'm upgrading an HP Probook 6450b which came to me with 2GB of RAM and a 32bit Win7 OS. I upgraded the OS to Win7 64 bit and tried adding more RAM via the underneath compartment, but the laptop would not load windows after doing so. I opened up the keyboard and removed the 2GB of RAM in there and replaced it with an additional 4GB stick (bringing it to 8 total), and the laptop would not boot. Using system diagnostics to test the RAM in BIOS would either cause the screen to turn into a mess or it would just hang at 0%. When I ran a crucial memory scan, it was only showing me compatability for DDR3L (1.35v) @ 1600mhz, yet the 2GB stick I took out of the system was running at 1.5v. The two 4GB sticks I put in the laptop were DDR3 (1.5v) @ 1600mhz, but the laptop won't boot even if I only use one of the sticks of RAM. I checked the manual for the laptop and it doesn't say anything about requiring 1.35 or 1.5v RAM, and only that 8GB is the max capacity and it has to be at most DDR3 @ 1600mhz. However, one thing I noticed was the CPU (an i3-370 M) has a requirement that the RAM speed can't exceed 1066mhz. So I'm confused as to what type of RAM I need. Can anyone assist? Thanks
