HP Probook 6550b
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

My trusty HP Probook 6550b for some time now tends to get a bit hot, on some hotter days this summer it even shut off. I have cleaned the vents and removed some programs from autostart, but the heat issues still exist. Therefore i am considering to remove the heatsink, clean everything and renew the thermal material.

1. Does this make sense, i.e. do you think / have experience that it will help with the heat issue?

2. Replacing the thermal paste is not a problem, but where can i get replacements for the thermal pads? Does HP or some other company sell fitting material (and maybe: do you know a source for buying these in Austria/Europe?)

Thanks for any helpful hints with these questions
