Hi there,
I am sharing this as my ProBook 640 G2 has died yesterday after BIOS update. I have used auto-update feature directly in the BIOS to download and upgrade it over the internet. I had my laptop connected with the ethernet cable and power etc.
After the BIOS file has been downloaded laptops start installing it and suddenly crashed saying "Invalid BIOS image". I was surprised as this was an auto-update o no human error possible. However, it looks like a human error happened at HP server.
I was trying to use BIOS recovery feature but with no much luck. It looks that the BIOS and ME are damaged.
When I turn the laptop on and try Win + B key or any other combination it just beeps, 2 long beeps, 2 short beeps and the blank screen.
I went to HP website and downloaded the BIOS file manually. After unpacking the file I was not able to start exe. There is a message that the file is corrupted. Well, I am not surprised as this is not the first time in HP history, however, beware if you have 640 G2 laptops. Don't upgrade the firmware. I am expecting an engineer in 1-2 days to replace the motherboard.
Corrupted file name: sp103655.exe
Version: 0.2.39.21874
Prod Ver. 01.47
Laptop: ProBook 640 G2

Here is some evidence:
Error pop up after bios auto upgrade: https://ibb.co/NpKbDZB
Bios file downloaded directly from HP website. https://ibb.co/sCGQVgY
File metadata: https://ibb.co/g4q5ZmS
Hopefully, HP will address this problem asap.
