My laptop has Insyde motherboard and is now working fine. But I want to know how to backup and recovery my BIOS, in case of future need.

I have read this document on hp.com. However, the video in Step 2: Create a USB recovery drive of this article on youtube has negative comments. The video link is here, and you can see the comments, such as:

  • I have no option to create a recovery usb drive.. When i download the BIOS file it gives me InsydeFlash, it asks me for my current ID and New ID and does not in any way seem like it wants to create a recovery drive, it wants to update the BIOS for the pc i'm currently using, I have an HP G61 Notebook that has the black screen error, it has the error code of 2 flashes on the caps lock LED so i know it's BIOS corruption, please help.

So I became unsure about this method and I tried to search for a solution myself. I searched "insyde BIOS recovery", but the only document I found was this. I couldn't find such a document on insyde.com. Which means, I can't find an official documentation on how to recovery insyde BIOS.

Also, I'm not sure how to backup current BIOS image. The document on hp.com didn't include how to backup current BIOS. It suggests us to use the BIOS file(an exe file) provided by hp, but the comments on youtube show that this method probably won't work well(as you can see above). And I couldn't find where to download a BIOS image from insyde.com.

So I need to do it myself again. However this time, I succeeded. I managed to find a way to extract my current BIOS into a file. But I'm not sure it's 100% currect, so I won't take the risk to try to verify anything with it.

In a word, I don't know how to backup and recover the BIOS.

Thank you in advance.
