Hp Envy i5. What is the best memory upgrade??

Hi, I've recently been given a Hp envy i5 Nvidia Geforce 1trbt HDD and 8Gb Ram.

I'm inyending to use the laptop for a bit of light video editing and it will be light, however 'm niot sure

memory upgrade would be the best here! There's a designated slot apparently for an SSD drive!

Any idea what the purpose of this is?

And what should I do, replace the existing 1trbite HDD and get a large SSD drive and if so which would be best suitable or keep the existing HDD and put an SDD in the slot provided and if so does that slot support a large SSD drive??

Someone mentioned about keeping the existing HDD and to use it as storage but run the OS and apps from the SSD drive, is this a good idea at all??

Thanks for your help here, its appreciated,

Best,
