my G56 slipped off a couch, impacted its hinge-corner on a carpeted floor, damaging the plastic case.  The laptop still works fine (using it now), but one hinge area is more exposed than it should be and the plastic is mildly smashed.

 

Is it possible to replace the plastic case?  (Not the cover that folds down; the "base" that holds most everythinig but the LCD.)

 

I do love this notebook, better than any laptop I've ever owned.
