HP Notebook - 15-bs115dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the last windows update on March 11, I ran into the issue where my camera was not working on any app. There was no issue with the camera being turned to private, the camera was not turned off (I do not have an private button), there was no issue with my antivirus suddenly trying to stop it from working, there were no updates available anywhere, and, no, turning the computer on and off again did not help. After attempting to follow several other asks of similar issues, I discovered that the camera in my device manager was grayed out and unable to connect to my computer. I had no imaging devices drivers, and none of the listed asks seemed to produce any help. However, I did run into one HP ask thread that suggested that I uninstall my camera then attempt to reinstall/restart my computer. This, I believe, was the beginning of an awful next three days.

There was no legacy hardware to install, and my build in HP Webcam did not come back after restart. With no software to install on HP and a seemingly infinite loop of unhelpful step-by-steps, I decided to go the route of hitting F11 during restart and restoring windows back to March 11th (the latest option that I had available). After this full restore, my computer seemed to be fine, although still without a working camera, for about 15 minutes until everything crashed. I was forced to have the computer shut down and be unable to start up. It ran into a "Critical Process Died" error every time, and when attempting to reset windows to any form (including a complete reset) it would encounter an error and refuse. The only option that worked was to factory reset the HP hardware, and after about 5-6 hours, it too ran into critical errors and was stuck in an endless loop until I could reach the F11 menu. At this time, I was surprisingly able to reset windows completely. Once completed HP was able to finish it's reset, and I was left with an essentially factory reset computer.

HOWEVER, the kicker to this awful adventure, is that I am still completely without a camera (it's not hidden either) and without any drivers associated with imaging. Can someone Please help me. And if this is some strange physical disconnect of my camera, I would like to know how it was able to do such while sitting on a desk not moving.

And as a helpful visual, this is a screen capture of what my device manager shows (including hidden).

Thank you,

A very very tired HP Notebook owner
