Dear Community

Since some days I'm encountering some strange issue. Sometimes right after system start, sometimes in the middle of the day, the system freezes and the monitor gets black.

It's not possible to unblock it unless I restart the computer holding the power button down.

It's not a monitor issue since it happens both with the notebook one and an external one connected through docking station.

I've gone through the Windows events  register and found pages and pages (even 65 pages of events with the viewer in full screen and the details part reduced to minimum) of these 2 events which are linked to the fingerprint sensor:

1)

<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<System>
<Provider Name="fpCsEvtSvc" />
<EventID Qualifiers="0">0</EventID>
<Level>0</Level>
<Task>0</Task>
<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2020-01-19T14:48:14.208574600Z" />
<EventRecordID>83984</EventRecordID>
<Channel>Application</Channel>
<Computer>NOTEBOOKNAME</Computer>
<Security />
</System>
<EventData>
<Data>fpCsEvtSvc</Data>
<Data>Event CS Exit</Data>
</EventData>
</Event>

2)

<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<System>
<Provider Name="VCS WBF Policy Service" />
<EventID Qualifiers="0">0</EventID>
<Level>2</Level>
<Task>0</Task>
<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2020-01-20T11:35:57.867419000Z" />
<EventRecordID>84276</EventRecordID>
<Channel>Application</Channel>
<Computer>NOTEBOOKNAME</Computer>
<Security />
</System>
<EventData>
<Data>VCS WBF Policy Service</Data>
<Data>RegisterEventCallBack failed with 000000002</Data>
</EventData>
</Event>

Once, for some unknown reason, this process got interrupted and I noticed that all the apps I had opened were being closed.

I've updated BIOS and all drivers before Christmas, around 1 week before.  I've tried to find the older version of fingerprint sensor driver but I couldn't.

How can I solve this issue?

Thank you for your support,

Mika
