I have a 2013 model of HP Envy 15. It was working great and was my backup laptop. Recently, I gave it to my son for his schoolwork. Key '$' was not working, so he used Keytweak to disable it. After I got back the laptop, I thought of formatting it to a clean start.
I used the windows media creator to create the latest Recovery media and started the process. Even while I went to the BIOS to load defaults (F9). I realised that ESC and LEFT-ARROW was not working. I started the recovery process and while entering the username, I realised that the keyboard is not working. Thinking some issue with the internal keyboard, I connected an external Wireless keyboard that I am currently using on my regular desktop. Even with this, I had the same issue. Then I thought of using the Online keyboard (as mouse is working fine) and I saw a weird keyboard being shown. Image Here
My current harddrive is a Samsung 512GB mSATA SSD in the mSATA slot. I removed it and putback a previous regular 1TB harddisk that already had a working windows 10 installtion. I faced the same KB issue.
Now I am at my wits end as to what the problem is as typically, when you reformat, all setting based issues get resolved. If nothing, the external keyboard could have solved the issue. But not here. I would appreciate any advise or help that I can use to get this working.
My config is (was): i7-4700MQ, 16GBDDR3, was mSATA512 SSD disk , is now 1TB SSD.
