Hello,

Could you please tell me if you know why is the laptop camera missing in the BIOS Settings?

I'm guessing the camera has a hardware problem and doesn't work, but I'm not sure, so I'm guessing it can be replaced.
Is it possible that my laptop doesn't support a camera (the model HP Probooks 655 G1 can support a camera) so this is the reason that it doesn't show up in BIOS ?
I don't know that if you connect a camera to a laptop that didn't have one from the factory, it can use that camera or not.

The camera is missing in the BIOS settings. It doesn't show up in BIOS, Windows or Linux.

I've bought an used HP Probook 655 G1 laptop and I didn't test the camera because I don't really need it.
I replaced the top dark grey back panel with the hp logo (part nr. 738691-001) because the previous one was scratched and I don't think I damaged any cables or the camera.
The cables seem OK, and even the microphone works.
I think from the pdf service guide that the camera and the microphone are on the same little pcb module that can be replaced.

The microphone works and appears in BIOS under:
BIOS > Advanced > Built-In Device Options > Microphone
The camera doesn't show up.

HP Support Assistant shows the same thing inside Windows.
CyberLink YouCam cannot find the camera, and inside windows the camera is not present in the Device Manager.

The laptop is a HP Probook 655 G1 with an AMD A8-4500M APU.
