Chrome OS

This perspective seems related to form factor.

Certain Chromebook lids seem to open 180 degrees from the base, so that, fully opened, the lid can lay flat on the surface upon which the base sits. Other Chromebook models seem to open only partially, perhaps somewhere around 135 degrees from the base.

I seem to unable to perceive any warranting advantage to restricting lid open angle to less than 180 degrees, and seem to recognize an apparent disadvantage to such restriction: every time the lid "bottoms out" at the apparent 135 degrees, stress on the contact points seems reasonably expected to occur, apparently more likely resulting in future failure of the stressed points than when lid opening is unrestricted prior to 180 degrees.

Hope that helps.
