Hello.

I have an Hp G7 as well and ran into the same issue. After some researching i found that your typical ddr3 ram stick is not universal. The older ddr3 ram sticks were just listed as say 4 Gb ddr3 PC3 12000s. The 4 Gb refers to the size of the ram module, the ddr3 the form factor, PC3 the voltage of the module, and 12000s the speed of the module.

However, as newer improvements were made to ram modules, they came out with a new module that reads 4 Gb ddr3 PC3L 12000s.

PC3 runs at 1.5 volts

PC3L runs at 1.35 volts

the two cards are not interchangeable and your G7 will only run the 1.5 voltage type.

Check the labels and see if they are the same.
