HP Recommended
Pavillion dv6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Pavillion dv6 HP laptop and haven't been able to use it due to a problem at start up.  This is the message I'm getting:

"The System BIOS has detected a possible issue with the cooling fan.

The cooling fan is an important part of a Notebook PC.  Operation of a  Notebook PC for an extended period of time without the cooling fan may result in permanent damage to the notebook PC.

Now that I am here, what can you tell me?  I have files I want to access on this computer to at least copy them off.  I have become a Mac user in the interim, but I have a lot of graphics files for scrapbooking I want to recover.  PC is much more user friendly for this, but I'm not sure it's worth getting this "fixed" if it means having work done on it to make the necessary repairs.

And, BTW, I do hear the fan when I turn it on.

Thanks in advance, Terri Miller
