Product: Workstation

 

I'm replacing my HP8510W that is about six years old. 

Hobby photography.  Primary  Camera is Canon Eos M2.

Honestly havent any interest in desktop tower and monitor.

No gaming whatsoever.  Very little video in fact.

Hobby CAD using Trimble Sketchup. 

Mostly interested in the best color and brightness I can get

in a 700 to 1000 dollar laptop.

 

Roughly these are my minimum goals

 

15.6 1920x1080 ips screen with min of 275 nits measured and reasonably good color

Touch screen not needed.   Matte preferred. 

 

Standard clamshell laptop.  No flip,  spin,  xtransforming, etc, needed.  All black is a plus!

 

Internal Graphics are OK

 

7th gen i5 

 

256 SSD

 

8gb memory

 

solidly built (usually this means business/educational class from what i understand)

 

All else... aesthetics,  connectivity, ports, optical drive, keyboard quality lighting or layout,  mousepad ergonomics,

etc, are not important as long as they make the machine at least serviceable.

 

I'm finding all of this in a variety of 15.6 laptop brands but what generally nixes the package is poor display performance.  Usually brightness.   Sometimes really bad color.   Occasionally both.

 

Hp does not make it very easy to search laptops by priority.  Unless I've missed it somewhere.   Just a sidebar like you find on amazon, etc, to search ALL laptops.  Start with 15.6 size.  Then resolution.  Then processor.  Etc. 

 

Any suggestions please?
