Hello,
The speaker icon has a red x and when rolled over "no audio device is installed appears. I've connected a usb headset and that ability to hear audio did not change, but the Logitech USB Headset now shows in device manager under "sound, video and game controllers".
There are no yellow icons in device manager.
Before posting here I downloaded the audio driver from the below link, following software instructions for installations as far as uninstalling current driver and restarting and completing the HP driver installation.

Here is the HW ID info from device manger for RealTek High Definition Audio.
