Product: HP 14-df0013ds
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello,
I acquired this laptop at a scratch and dent sale. When plugged in or on battery, when I press the power button, the power light will illuminate for a second, then turn off, then turn back on and stay solid. The screen stays blank, and it never boots. There are no post errors, and I've confirmed that POST works by removing the RAM stick, powering up, and observing the 3 blinking lights on the caps lock LED which indicate memory error according to the product manual.
Things I've tried:
- Hard reset by holding power button for 15sec and then powering back on.
- HP Bios recovery/repair UEFI tool. Held windows key and 'B' after power button. Still nothing on screen.
- HP Bios recovery without UEFI tool. Nothing after holding windows key and 'B'.
- Inserting a Linux Ubuntu bootable drive. Still nothing.
Interesting Symptoms:
- When plugged into an external display. Power on. the monitor will wake from sleep as if it can detect a signal, but still nothing will appear. Tried pressing the display key as well. nothing.
- when power light becomes solid, still no HDD light. This is why I tried the Linux USB because this should be able to boot without HDD. The HDD is embedded on this system, so I may be SOL if it is HDD problem, but I'm not convinced it is yet.
Any other suggestions on what I could try? Thanks
