HP Elitebook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have following problem:

A HP Elitebook 840 G3 was put into standy and was put into a sleeve inside a backpack. Then the Notebook was connected with the charger.

Now Windows 10 started the Notebook to do Updates, because unfortunately only for battery "Allow wake timers" was disabled. Afterwards Windows reseted the notebook.

After the reset the notebook waited at the Preboot Authentication Screen for the Bios Startup Password. Somehow power management is not really working, because after a short time at the PBA screen the fan starts and after a longer time the notebook gets really hot. Is the CPU power management already running at the PBA screen? (Throttling, S-States ...).

After several hours of running in the backpack the laptop smelled burned and was so burning hot, that I almoust burned my fingers. Is CPU Overheating Shutdown working in this state?

Whouldn't it be better to automatically shutdown the device, if the Preboot Authentication is not answered in a certain amount of time? I know such a behaviour from some other notebooks.
