Hi,
It's a well-known fact that Nvidia Optimus increases & optimizes battery life for laptops with dedicated graphics cards.
My Hp Omen 15 dc-1088wm which comes with Gtx 1660ti as a dedicated graphic card is supported for Nvidia Optimus Tech (Nvidia link attached)
https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/optimus/supported-gpus
Currently, the laptop without gaming with just watching videos for like an hour, surfing the web and using Microsoft office applications is only giving me a maximum of 2.5hours which is horrible for a 70whr battery installed in it.
Brightness level: 60%
Power mode: Better battery
Omen Command Centre - Performance Control: Comfort mode
As one can see my laptop is operating at its best better saving settings without any heavy task being utilized and is just giving me 2.5hours.
Reason being simple all-time running GTX 1660ti instead of Intel graphics (which requires Nvidia Optimus to run)
I solely chose GTX 1660ti variant thinking it will give a better battery with Nvidia Optimus than RTX 2060 (doesn't support Optimus) but was shocked to see such bad battery life.
Acer Predator Helios with 57whr is giving most of them around 3.5hrs of battery with Nvidia Optimus. Now if Omen 15 provides Nvidia Optimus the 70whr battery will show its true potential as no matter how many tweaks one does it will simply not match the potential of battery life from Intel graphics through Nvidia Optimus.
Thus, my humble request to developers of HP that since the Nvidia Optimus tech is supported for GTX 1660ti then please bring it through a software update to utilize the real potential of a 70whr battery.
Thank you.
