HP Recommended
Pavilion Gaming 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had my HP Pavilion Gaming 17 laptop for just over a year and I have recently noticed that when I plug in the original AC adapter that came with the laptop an error message appears, reading "Incompatible power source detected. Your computer will run in reduced performance mode and may not charge. Use of the original power adapter is recommended." The reduced performance it mentions is very evident both when using software and playing games.

Neither the power chord or the charging port appear to have any visible damage. The cable also appears to effectively charge the battery when plugged in. I have tried running a component test on the AC adapter via hardware diagnostics, but the results column reads "CANCELED" once the outcome screen is reached.

Is there any way I can get my computer to detect the power source properly? If not, would it be possible to disable the reduced performance mode that is automatically switched on by the system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
