First of all this is my first post, so please be gentle if I made a mistake etc.

Secondly, English is not my native language so please don't blame me if I make an error.

Well with that being said lets begin. I will start all the way from the beginning so this is going to be a long post, but bear with me as I try to explain in as much detail as possible what happend to me (and my laptop).

It started a few months ago when I took the laptop from my desk and brought it downstairs. There was this weird rattling noise and in all of a sudden a small plastic piece flew out of the fan! I was surprised and shocked at the same time. I was wondering how that could have happend since the laptop never fell on the floor or stuff like that. Most of the time it just sits on my desk. Afterwards when I turned the laptop off I didn't hear any more loose plastic inside. So I assumed I was lucky and it was only a one time incident.

Now a week ago I needed to take my laptop to someone, so I grabbed it off my desk to put it inside the sleeve. I noticed that there was some plastic rumbling going on when I grabbed the laptop. The next day I decided to open it up since I didn't want more plastic shooting trough my fan with the possibility of damaging it. I have experience with opening up laptops, so it was not difficult, but I never would have thought that I needed to open this one up because of the sound of loose plastic pieces. This was by the way the first time that I opened it up.

What I found (apart from some dust around the fan which is normal for +/- 3 years, I also found more small black pieces of platisc (see photo 1)photo 1 - first time that I opened the laptopphoto 1 - first time that I opened the laptopphoto 2 - second time I opened itphoto 2 - second time I opened itphoto 3 - the platic that came loose the second timephoto 3 - the platic that came loose the second time. I looked everywhere but I couldn't figure out where it came from. I cleaned everything up and it seemed to be fine up untill today.

Today I adjusted the screen a little bit and I heard more cracking. I turned the laptop off immidiatly and opened up the back of the laptop (second time). What I found is shown in photo 2. The hinge (on the left side next to the fan) broke on all places where it was attatched to the black plastic. More small pieces came loose and where visible this time. That also explains why I couldn't figure out where the pieces came from the first time I opened it up. It was beacause of the position of the hinge which held everything in place.

So now there are a few things I would like to say:

- First of all I think that it is safe to assume that there are too little screws to hold the enourmous pressure of the hinge (if more people have experienced this issue).

- Secondly because the hinge is next to the fan I think that because of the fluctuations in temperature the plastic is more funerable.

- This laptop was around €1200,- when it came out and truly dissapointed in HP delivering such quality for that price.

- I would like to know if this still falls under warrenty since this an engeneering fault (in my opinion). The laptop never fell on the floor and sits on my desk most of the time.

- If the above is not the case is there a place where I can order the plastic parts so I can solve this nasty problem myself?

Thanks a lot for reading all this! I wanted to be as clear as possible so the post is probably a little longer than usual.
