hp chromebook 11 g8

I know many people have been having issues scanning HP bardcodes / QR codes over the last few years.  Our school Distric purchases chromebooks by the thousands and it was a major hassle not being able to scan barcodes.

We have had success with the following scanner.  I had previously had the HD version that worked on some of other other brand chromebook qr codes but not the HPs.  But the XD version seems to do pretty well...  TIP:  It does help to hold the scanner on a angle ....

I dont think the issue is with the type of barcode but rather with the way it is printed/imprinted on the HP devices.  I think the issue is there is not enough of a contrast between the print and the textured surface of the device so a lot of the cheaper scanners cannot detect the barcode on the rough surface of the device.  BUt I claim no expertise on the subject.
