My wife's laptop has been acting oddly the last several months. She noticed it one day when she accidentally bumped the screen that it started flickering in and out and she had to hold the power button down and force kill it to get it to stop. Upon reboot, it seemed fine but since then on multiple occasions she has had the same thing happen when the screen or underneath the computer is bumped or if the laptop is moved the wrong way. Recently, it has begun freezing when this happens and again the only way to fix it is to do a hard shut off and then reboot. She was willing to put up with the issue but now I'm using the computer regularly and it's quite annoying. We took it apart this evening to see if we could see anything obviously wrong with it such as a loose cable or connector but aside from a bit of dust in the fans, everything seemed in place. We put it back together and powered it back up and then lightly tapped the underside of the laptop and it happened again. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this and what the remedy might be?
