ProBook 640 G1
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an HP ProBook 640 G1 laptop, and am using an HP docking station that I have been using 2 monitors on for years, and this morning, the second monitor stopped working. The first is connected via DVI cable, and the second is connected using a VGA cable. Here is what I have attempted in terms of troubleshooting already:

  • rebooted initially - no change
  • changed settings on physical monitor - no change, only the change source & power buttons working
  • power-cycled the monitor - no change
  • power-cycled dock - no change
  • connected the VGA cable to the laptop without the dock - monitor works fine, displaying what laptop sends it
  • swapped the VGA cable - no change
  • swapped the docking station - no change
  • switched settings to only display the first monitor that is working and back to extend monitor - no change
  • removed the monitor via device manager and having it be re-detected - no change
  • power-cycled everything - no change
  • swapped videos cables between the two monitors - still only the one on the DVI cable works, the VGA one continues to be a no-go

Thank you, and I look forward to reading from you.
