Laptops and phones which have their batteries inbuilt suffer from one issue which I describe below:

Those of us who use your laptops as desktop replacement or keep the AC plugged in all the time are unknowingly contributing towards degrading your lithium ion batteries.

Lithium ion batteries are best kept between 40% to 80%. If the charge drops or goes over these percentage then there is more chemical reaction which leads to your battery eventually not being able to hold the charge. Obviously even if you follow the best practices, overtime lithium ion batteries degrade irrespective of whether you use them or not but the process can be slowed down.

As such I was wondering if there is any software or hardware which would allow me to keep my laptop/phone charged yet it would automatically stop charging when the charge reaches 80% and start charging automatically when it drops to 40%. This 80% and 40% figure could be set to different numbers ofcourse.

If anyone is aware of such a technology then please let me know.
