I have an annoying problem with the touchpad sensitivity on my new work notebook. When holding down the left or right mouse button underneath the touchpad the sensitivity of the touchpad greatly increases with about 100%. When the buttons are pressed I can move the cursor about twice the distance compared to normal.

I want the sensitivity to stay the same, regardless if I'm dragging something/selecting multiple items or just moving the cursor as normal. File management becomes a pain when it's like this.

- My previous notebook, also from HP, did not do this, so this is something new with this computer.

- No acceleration or "enhance pointer precision" is enabled anywhere.

- If I connect an external mouse, it does not behave this way.

- I also noticed that if I double tap and hold and drag with the touchpad the sensitivity is unchanged.

- Likewise, clicking an external mouse button, but dragging with the touchpad is unaffected.

- And also the mouse button above the touchpad (belonging to the TouchStyk) is also not causing this for the touchpad.

- The touchpad left and right buttons don't magically increase the sensitivity of the external mouse either.

It's ONLY the touchpad's physical left and right mouse button that raise the sensitivity of ONLY the touchpad when depressed.

I don't see any setting for this. On the Synaptics TouchPad tab in Mouse Properties there's a button to "Microsoft Mouse and touchpad", but there's no option about this.

In any case, this seems like a bug in the driver or firmware, pure and simple.

Device Info:

Synaptics LuxPad V1.5 on SMB Port

Driver Version: 19.0.19.54

Firmware Version 1.5

Interface: SMB

There's also another problem I have with the touchpad which ALSO happens when pressing ONLY the thouchpad's physical buttons:

Something weird happens to the responsiveness to really slow movements of the cursor.

- If moved slow enough the cursor doesn't move at all.

- If sped up slightly the cursor can be moved in straight lines only (up/down or left/right).

- With normal/faster movements the cursor is moving softly in all directions.

Just as a clarification, releasing the mouse button makes the problem go away instantly. Then you can move the cursor as slow as you like.

As you can imagine this leads to very jerky behavior if the speed you move the cursor is hovering at either of these cutover points. Try precision selecting text this way...

Again, this only happens when pressing either physical thouchpad mouse button and only then affecting the movement of the cursor through the touchpad. The same buttons don't affect an external mouse and clicking by any other means (double tap and hold, TouchStyk buttons above, or external mouse buttons) in combination with using the touchpad does not cause this behavior.

I can't help but think that these problems are related. They do have the same buttons in common. Has anybody else had either of these problems? If so, how did you solve it?
