HP EliteBook 8470p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all, I have an HP EliteBook 8470p running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I have an issue where the TouchPad or mouse freezes randomly. When this first started happening, which was several months to possibly a year ago, it seemed to be happening only with the TouchPad. At the time this first started happening, I had an external mouse that I could use, and when the mouse was plugged in, I would never experience this.

What happens is that I'll be reading a Web page, for example, and when I'm done or I need the mouse for some reason, I move my finger (usually I use my left index, not that it should matter) across the TouchPad and it doesn't seem to register. The mouse stays in place, in whatever pointer/cursor icon it was in last. The mouse will stay frozen for maybe 2-4 seconds and then suddenly start moving. The weird thing is that this seems to happen randomly. Sometimes I go for hours or days (or weeks!) without this happening, and then it'll suddenly happen. When it does start happening, it seems to occur more frequently in a short period (i.e., from not happening for days or even weeks, it'll happen several times in the span of a day or a few hours). And then just as randomly, it'll not happen again for hours/days/weeks.

It's a mild annoyance at best, but sometimes it does get very frustrating! Unfortunately I don't have an external mouse available to use anymore, and might not for a few months at least. I just want to see get some help in troubleshooting this and see if this can be fixed. As far as I know, I'm running the latest drivers as I have HP Support Assistant and it doesn't show any driver downloads available.

Thanks in advance.
