I just had an 120GB M.2 SSD installed. The touchpad doesn't turn off when I use a wireless mouse (which, in fact, is an HP wireless mouse! [Z3700, P/N: V0L82AA]).

Looked under Device Manager and it doesn't show it as a touchpad; it shows PS/2 Compatible Mouse.

I need to turn it off while another mouse is connected.. Typing becomes a nightmare and the cursor jumps every other second because I accidentally touch the touchpad!

The settings no longer even shows the touchpad settings ; it shows mouse settings!

Also, the touchpad gestures have stopped working (obviously) and I'm growing sadder everyday.    😞

 

I tried the following:

  1. Scanning for new hardware
  2. Updating the driver using HP Support assistant (says the driver is up to date. It technically is, but, ITS THE WRONG DRIVER!)
  3. Let Device Manager search on hard drive for driver. It says the latest is installed.
  4. Researched in Google but all posts say touchpad isn't working; mine is. Or it says update the drivers. Tried that.
  5. Also tried HP Support Diagnostic Tools over at support.hp.com but nothing happened.
  6. Uninstall the mouse, restart the computer, and the PS/2 mouse is back.

Any ideas?
